Learn Inkscape 1.0

While there are some tutorials in this course, It is not the main objective. The lessons allow learners to understand the tools and why they are used.

3d peace sign vector: build shapes

First of all select the circle tool and create a perfect round circle by pressing shift + ctrl. Make the circle 300 x 300 px. Set the stroke to 30 px and deselect everything. Make sure there is no fill, only stroke. Next select the square tool. Create a perfect square by pressing shift + ctrl. Make the square the same size as the circle.

Furthermore it is necessary to change these shapes to a path. Select the circle and the square by pressing shift. Next go to path/object to path. (We choose this option because we want to edit paths, but we need the stroke to retain its properties. Therefore, we will finalize the stroke later.) Notice the red arrow. See the nodes this made? We will use this to snap objects together.

Finally we need to build the rest of the peace sign. Notice the next red arrow. Turn the snap to nodes paths on. This should help snap our objects into place. Select the pen tool. Click on the top of the circle and it should naturally snap on. Press ctrl and click the pen tool down at the bottom of the circle. Press enter to end the line.

Furthermore we need to add the square. First click on the square, click again to get the rotation handles. Press ctrl and rotate the square until the points are diamond shape rather than square. Snap the square on the line created by the pen tool.

3d peace sign vector: cut path

Finally we will duplicate the circle by pressing ctrl + d. Turn this copy red. With the red copy selected also select the square. Go to path/cut path. (This is why we need the stroke to stay a stroke.) Deselect everything. Select the bottom portion of the square and delete it.

Now we can finally finalize the stroke. Select all pieces of the peace sign. Go to path/stroke to path. Path/union.

3d peace sign vector: make it 3d

Duplicate the peace sign and turn it blue. Turn the other copy orange. The blue copy needs a stroke that is orange and 3-5 px. Place the blue copy on top of the orange copy. Center vertically and horizontally. Deselect everything. Select the blue top object and move it with the right keyboard arrow key 5-8 times and then down a few times. Adjust as you like.
