The alpha channel is an element of colour that helps determine the degree of transparency (or opacity) of a color.
The difference can be seen in the Alpha channel in your color panel window. (c,m,y,k,A)(r,g,b,A)(h,s,l,A) etc.
If the “Pick Alpha” button is off, the selected object will consequently inherit the fill colour. (IE. Faded and Opaque.
If the “Pick Alpha” button is on but “Assign Alpha is off, the selected object will therefore get the fill colour. (bright, opaque.
If both “Pick Alpha” and “Assign Alpha” are on, the selected object as a result will get the fill colour (pale) and be partially transparent, as well as match the fill style of the object from which the colour was initially from.
