Inkscape bezier pen tool: Shortcuts
Learning the pen tool is challenging. However, once you know it, you know it. The pen tool is arguably the best tool in all of Inkscape. Or most design programs for that matter.
The first shortcut for the bezier pen tool is “Shift+L”.
First of all, select the pen tool. Click on the board and click up and to the right. Pull till you have a curve. Let go of the mouse. The green line is the curve you made, the red line is attached to your pen. To create a single handle to make a corner simply press “Shift+L+.
Easy, right? Now you know. The second shortcut is easy too.
The second shortcut is “Shift+U”. It is the same as the first method except you must press “Shift+U”. The difference is that it gives two handles.
While there are some tutorials in this course, It is not the main objective. The lessons allow learners to understand the tools and why they are used.
The third shortcut is just plain “Shift”. This method will give you two handles.
The trick to this bezier pen tool shortcut is to still hold the mouse in the pull. Leave your finger on the left mouse click. Then press shift while holding to move the handle to the desired location. In the image I’ve just done a right angle.
The green line is a completed curve the red is still attached to your pen. Either click again, or press enter to end your line.
