Roughen text & graphics Inkscape Tutorial
Today I'm going to show you how to create a roughen text & graphics effect using Inkscape. This is certainly a really easy tutorial and it can add depth and character to your designs. These types of graphics can be used on embroidered patches, t-shirts, stickers and more! Follow the Illustrator tutorial instead.

Step 1. Select the text tool and type in your text. I chose to write “Roughen”. Use the “T” text selection tool to choose the desired font. I used Poppins in the tutorial but any thick font will also do the trick. Finalize your chosen text by going to Path-->Object to Path, Ungroup it and then Path-->Union.

Step2. Select your “Roughen” word. Additionally zoom in so you can get a good look at it for the effect. Go to Filters-->Distort-->Roughen. Click live preview.
It’s probably going to look pretty crazy! But that’s certainly ok, we’ll also fix it. Choose the following settings and additionally click apply then close:
Consequently depending on your font choice, you'll probably need to adjust the numbers. View other graphic design tutorials.
Roughen text & graphics: Duplicate
Step 3. First of all select the word “Roughen” and duplicate it by pressing “CTRL” + “D”. Alternatively, right click-->Duplicate. With the duplicated copy selected, go to Path-->Linked offset. Grab the singular node and pull it it a little bit. Send this object to the bottom. Colour it white. When satisfied, go to Path-->Object to Path to finalize it.
Secondly duplicate the white “Roughen” copy one more time, additionally turn it blue and send it to the bottom. Finally go to Path-->Linked offset and pull the node out a bit more. Finalize this by going to Path-->Object to path.
Finally, Move this object down 1-2 times and over 1-2 times using the arrow keys on your keyboard.
And finally we’re done! Here are the settings I used for the graphic background:
